With EuroSoTL 2027 now officially announced for 8–11 June 2027 at the University of Westminster in London, this is a wonderful moment to revisit some of the conversations that we had at the EuroSoTL 2025 in Groningen.
During the conference, two Degrees of Freedom podcast episodes were recorded on site by Tassos Sarampalis, offering a thoughtful glimpse into both the spirit of the event and the wider EuroSoTL community.
In one episode, Irma Meijerman, PhD, SFHEA (Chair of EuroSoTL) reflects on what SoTL looks like in everyday teaching practice. She speaks about the importance of beginning with context and of creating space for connection, exchange, and shared inquiry across our diverse community.
In the second episode, keynote speaker Helga Dorner explores SoTL as a way of seeing the classroom as a site for inquiry, reflection, and professional growth. Her conversation also touches on how educators navigate both challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
Together, these two episodes capture each something essential about SoTL – its practical grounding in teaching and its reflective potential as a way of understanding and improving our work.
We invite you to listen, reconnect with the conversations from Groningen, and perhaps begin looking ahead to London.
