Conference Theme
The conference aimed to advance knowledge of best teaching practices and enhance student learning. Key themes included developing inquiry and research in students, stimulating student engagement, fostering significant learning experiences, professional development of academic staff, and aligning SoTL with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Participants explored questions such as the unexplored fields for SoTL, expectations from SoTL, ways to strengthen SoTL, its impact on students and institutions, and potential alliances for SoTL. The culturally rich setting of the Basque Country, known for its unique identity and Europe’s oldest language, added to the conference’s appeal.
The Joanna Renc-Roe Award
Bettie Higgs (University College Cork) was awarded The Joanna Renc-Roe Award for their work on Enhancing student engagement through interdisciplinary, international field-based research that tackles global issues.
